Profile

Just Duckie Soaps was started as a home business operated by myself, Eileen Cook.  The soap making business is very new to me.  I work at a full-time job during the day and go to school at night once or twice a week.  I always try to find time to make soap on the weekends.  It is a source of relaxation.  At the end of a hectic week, I always find making soap so invigorating.  I come up with new ideas, sometimes on purpose and other times, by accident.

How I Got Started

My name is Eileen Cook and I am the sole owner of Just Duckie Soaps.  I would like to share my first experience with Melt and Pour (M&P) soap making.  For me, it started out as an idea for gift giving.  It was around Christmas time and I wanted to give something different and special to my friends and family.  My best friend mentioned that she made soap one year and it went over great.  I thought to myself, "yea right, I'm not that creative."  She had leftover supplies that I could experiment with.  After creating some awful looking soaps, I was addicted and wanted to learn more.  I researched everything about M&P soap making.  I surfed the Internet and bought some books.  Well, needless to say, that was almost XX years ago and I am totally addicted.  Right now, I have so many soap supplies that my husband is going nuts.  I am running out of room to store them.

After giving the soaps as gifts to friends and family, they wanted to know how I made them.  They thought it was such a personal gift.  But, they wanted more.  The more soaps I made, the more I gave away.  I added up all the personal expenses that I had just buying the supplies and realized that I better start putting a price tag on my soaps.  It was my time and money that I was putting out.  I decided about 2 months ago to start offering my handcrafted soap creations to more than just family and friends.

I took some samples of my soap into work and people swarmed to them.  They went over really well.  I made my first sales that day.  It was the greatest feeling.  That's where this website comes in.  I don't know much about advertising, but what I do know is that having a website increases your business.

I hope you enjoy my website and happy soaping!

Thank you for visiting my website,

Eileen Cook
